FAQ

For Additional Questions Please Contact Us

Yes. The choice of where you receive therapy is always yours. While the majority of our patients come to us by physician referral/recommendation, many clients request to see us due to our strong clinical reputation in the community.

We operate in a direct access state where, if your insurance plan authorizes self-referral to physical therapy, a physician referral is not necessary for you to be seen by a licensed therapist. Please check with your insurance though as many health insurance plans require a physician’s referral for therapy to be covered. We also offer treatments, services or products that do NOT require a referral and are available on a self-pay basis.

We participate in the majority of major health insurance plans including Medicare and Worker’s Compensation. Please contact us prior to your first visit to see if we participate with your specific health plan.

As a service to our patients, we will gladly file claims with your insurance company on your behalf. In order to appropriately submit these claims, we will need to obtain a copy of your insurance identification card to ensure that we have the necessary information.

Your therapist will conduct an evaluation of your condition lasting between 60-90 minutes. The evaluation is necessary to create a program designed specifically to address your needs for a maximum recovery.

– Referral slip from your medical doctor
– Your medical insurance card
– Your ID
– If you are getting therapy as a result of a worker’s compensation claim or an automobile accident, you will also need to bring your claim information, including claim number.

Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to fill out any necessary paperwork.

We recommend comfortable clothing such as sweatpants or shorts, a T-shirt or tank-top and sneakers.

Each visit will last 60 – 90 minutes on average. Times vary due to the treatment and exercises being performed.

The regularity of your visits will be determined after your initial evaluation, but most patients have 3 visits each week scheduled.

Testimonials

"I am currently on my third time with Seacoast Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist MATT TRIPP. First in 2014 for tendonitis in my right leg from a torn hip muscle; again in 2015 after I was rear-ended while stopped in traffic and suffered a lower back injury; and now I have a broken wrist. Each time, Dr. Tripp has been a caring and excellent therapist and I have healed well. Each time he gave me confidence that the pain would end and he gave me the tools (exercises) that enabled me to help myself heal between therapy appointments. By following his directions, I have healed completely within a very reasonable time frame. Dr. Tripp and the staff of Seacoast Physical Therapy are attentive, professional and entirely focused on their patients and each patient’s’ needs. I highly recommend Seacoast Physical Therapy and therapist MATT TRIPP. I’m a very thankful and satisfied customer."
- Deborah B.
"Best therapy I've ever had, and would recommend to anyone in need of therapy." -Tara M.
"My experience with Matt has been positive. The PT has made a considerable difference in healing. Pain decreased with each visit and I feel I have my life back and can function in daily activities. I'm back at work and functional; sleeping, dressing, and meeting my personal responsibilities." - Georgie N.
"I was referred by my family doctor to Seacoast Physical Therapy for right knee soreness. On my first visit Jeff examined me and then diagnosed my problem. He then showed me a model of a knee and explained where the problem was. On one of my first visits, I was having an issue doing one of the exercises and Jeff patiently showed me and explained the correct way to do it. During visits in the weeks since, I was treated with encouragement and patience. I found Jeff and his staff to be knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and caring. My knee is much improved and I would highly recommend Seacoast Physical Therapy!" - Dave B.

In November 2018, I suffered a low back injury that left me in intense nerve pain. The last epidural steroid shot made the pain manageable but I was without the use of my toes and considerable weakness in my ankle. I was experiencing numbness and temperature variances in my leg and ankle and I was not moving well.  The plan was to let my body heal in an attempt to avoid surgery, which can take time. I grew more worried as the weeks ticked by without any improvement. After a follow-up appointment with my doctor, the next step in the process was to start physical therapy.

I was hesitant to start physical therapy and as I consider this now, the reasons are foolish. Poor excuses that were the result of my fear. I made the call to my doctor’s office to get a referral.  I am so very grateful that the referral led me to Seacoast Physical Therapy.  It was conveniently located in Kennebunk, where I live and work. From the very first call to working with my insurance company, the office staff was so accommodating and helpful.

At the consultation, I met Matt Tripp. He presents himself as confident and knowledgeable, and I could tell he was empathetic.  He was patient as I rambled on trying to articulate my symptoms and concerns.  He initiated a plan for me to start healing my injury but also improving my overall health and help avoid future injury.

My visits were twice a week and I was given daily exercises to do at home.  He gave me the knowledge to help myself, to achieve by doing, improve my everyday life.  Quickly, he helped me to recognize that he can show me what to do but ultimately I was responsible for my own recovery. He and Seacoast Physical Therapy were the keys to my success in healing.

What surprised me; soon the appointments became something I looked forward to instead of something that I had to do.  Even with a few setbacks in my progress, Matt remained positive and fun to work with. He made getting better, better. I have healed enough that physical therapy has done its job.  Matt provides a tailored approach to meet each patient's needs. The ending is bittersweet and I know that Matt and his team help many people but  I am  not sure if they know how much of an impact they make.  The admiration, respect, and gratitude fill my spirit.  I would not hesitate to recommend Seacoast Physical Therapy in Kennebunk.” - Jen D.

“My treatment at Seacoast Physical Therapy was excellent. I felt Matt immediately understood the basis of my problem, and was able to target it precisely. It did not take long for me to feel significantly better. As important to me, everyone is pleasant and professional.” - Mary L.

“[PT] helped a lot, not only with strength, but with confidence. Had fun while getting stuff done.” -Sophie F.

“I have been suffering from vertigo X5 months due to a motor vehicle accident. He gave me hope from the first appointment, two appointments and vertigo gone. So thankful for Matt. Professional and caring, even called to see if was O.K. at home. Recommend to everyone! :)” - Angela J.

“Before I came to Seacoast Physical Therapy, my pain and range of motion kept me from performing every day activities. Now that I went through the therapy process, I am pain free and my motion is back to normal. I’m so glad they took such good care of me.” - Teresa O.

“Having been to multiple physical therapy practices after surgeries, I have found Seacoast to be the best for ease of making appointments, location, quality of care and true intrest in my well-being. Matt has mastered the fine line between encouraging and pushing hard.” - Pat H.

“I went to physical therapy with some natural trepidation, but my fears were swept away as I became involved in the exercises. Matt did a fine job!” - Martha M.

“My care was excellent. I feel so much stronger and more capable. I have more confidence with my new knee. Matt is very caring and supportive. I have great confidence in his care and respect his counsel and procedures to make me stronger.” Ann H.

“I am absolutely thrilled with the results, thank you. I came to Seacoast Physical Therapy because I’ve had at least 6 falls and have trouble getting up after falling, and also trouble bending to do chores because of the prior back injury. I was frightened that I was destined to keep falling because of my back. After doing the strengthening exercises you gave me, I feel that my legs are strong and keep me from falling! You told me that I should job outside rather than use the treadmill because I would benefit from the vertical motion forward. I have not been able to run outside in 4 years because I would get pain down my leg when I was sitting or trying to sleep. Now because of exercises, I have been running 3 miles everyday without pain. I have lost 6 pounds and my blood pressure is down. Thank you for your knowledge, kindness, wonderful advice!” - Laurel F.

“I feel 100% better now. I was concerned with my back pain when I became pregnantn which led me to PT. I’ve had back pain for 10+ years which would limit me and now @ 8 months [pregnant] I feel better/stronger than I ever have. At 8 month, I feel less pain, no limitations (from back pain) and am lifting heavier weights (25-40lbs) which I could not do before. Matt did awesome gradually getting me to where I needed to be. I would highly recommend Matt at Seacoast Physical Therapy.” - Anna M.

“Always on time. Always attentive. Showed knowledge and concern. Good continuity.” - Pat S.

“I felt that Seacoast PT really helped me gain some confidence and helped push me out of the place I was stuck. Before coming here, I would never have dreamed that I could exercise for and hour, never mind 30 minutes. Matt at Seacoast PT has brought a positive attitude and confidence back to my life.” -Greg P.

“I haven’t been dizzy in a week! Epley’s maneuver worked. The exercises are making me stronger.”

- Joanne R.

“I have gone to physical therapy a few other times over the years and my experience here has been the best ever. I was able to make good strides to lingering post-surgery pain and mobility issues. Would recommend Matt to everyone.” - Janice V.

“My experience at Seacoast Physical Therapy was great! The administrative staff was very kind helpful and efficient, especially dealing with my insurance and working with my hectic schedule. Physical Therapist Matt was a great motivator. He provided a very comprehensive evaluation as well as treatment plan that was easy to follow and led to my complete recovery. The one on one approach really made a difference. The facility itself was clear and pleasant overall I had a great experience.”

When I first arrived I was not positive about my outcome.  However, contrary to my initial assessment of my pain, after six weeks I felt very much approved.  Now I have learned that muscle pain takes time to improve.  I just needed to be patient and voila, it worked.

~Ann M.

I feel my care has gone very well.  In the past with physical therapy I’ve dreaded going to appointments.  Here at Seacoast working with Matt, I’ve never felt that way.  Matt’s patience and encouragement has motivated me to do the best I can.  He’s been so professional in presenting rationales and expected outcomes, making me believe I can get to a good base line for moving forward.    The whole team is outstanding!

~Gael J.

Much less pain in the hip, in fact, most of the day no pain.  I could walk maybe fifteen minutes before, now I can walk over a mile and can walk one hour.  I don’t have to limp anymore.  I can sit longer without pain in my hip and leg.

~Donna K.

Very welcoming staff.  Very attentive to your concerns and watched over you when doing the exercises. I would always answer questions about your rehab and why you hurt/feel the way you do.  I understand the mechanics of my surgery better and the related pains and soreness that goes along with it.  Thank you.

~Jeff R.

~Linda S.

After about ten weeks of therapy, twice weekly, I was feeling much better.  The pain in my left hip is not keeping me awake or impeding on usual activities.  Almost back to normal.  I’m so excited to be on the mend.  Matt Tripp encouraged me, instilled confidence with a realistic treatment plan.  Thank you.
